NIFT 2016 Complete Details: National Institute Of Fashion Technology


NIFT 2016 admission has been announced by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Exams for design and fashion courses will be held as NIFT 2016 admission tests on 14th February 2016. This will be followed by situation test, group discussion and interview. Procedure to apply and appear in the paper based and computer based tests have been published in the NIFT admissions information bulletin. Exams are to be held for admission in Bachelor of Design, Master of Design, Bachelor of Fashion Technology, Master of Fashion Management, Master of Fashion Technology. Details of NIFT 2016 admissions are given here for interested candidates.


NIFT 2016 application form must be filled online and submitted to NIFT 2016 as per the schedule given in prospectus. Online registration has started for entrance exams to be held in February 2016. Admit card of NIFT 2016 entrance exams will be available online from last week of January, 2016. Candidates must fill in their application forms, pay application fee and then download hall tickets.

NIFT 2016 Examination Pattern

Based on the choice, all eligible candidates will have to appear for a written entrance examination at the Examination Centres opted by them. The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted.

There is no negative marking.

Entry to the examination centre will be allowed with admit cards only. Mobiles and other infotech gadgets are not allowed inside the Examination Centre. Candidates found with mobile or other infotech gadgets will be asked to leave the examination centre and shall be disqualified.


Candidates should reach the examination center at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination

Date of Test : 14th February 2016: All UG and PG Programmes

On the basis of result of written test GAT and CAT, B.Des candidates will be called for second test called Situation Test. For B.F.Tech., GAT will be the final test for selection. The candidates for M.Des will take GAT and CAT. On the basis of result of GAT and CAT, in case of M.Des. and GAT in case of M.F Tech and MFM, candidates will be called for Group Discussion/Personal Interview.


The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria for admission. Their admission at all the stages of the examination for which they are admitted by NIFT viz. Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be) will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If on verification at any time before or after the
Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be), it is found that candidate does not fulfill any eligibility criteria, his/her candidature for the examination shall stand cancelled without any notice or further reference. NIFT shall not be liable for any consequences on account of such cancellations.

Fee Structure – Revised

The Board of Governors, NIFT in its 30th meeting held on 29th Oct, 2015 has approved the fee increase for all students seeking admission in 2016-17 with the further hike of 10% every subsequent year. Accordingly, revised fee and refund structure for batch 2016-20 is as under.


Note: For students admitted in two years PG course, the fee has to be paid only for two years i.e 2016-17 & 2017-18
